I understand that educating, conversing, digging into history can be hard, especially if you are still forced to suffer through racism today. #Slavery is a subject that parent of color needs to be teaching their children at home everyday. Not just what the curriculum in school says but what the ancestors have told them in stories they heard all their lives
I understand it is a #hard subject to grasp, tackle, bring up but it has to be done. It has to be addressed to show the connection between slavery (being enslaved) and racism. We can’t keep leaving our children to figure this shit out on their own or just addressing one issue without the other. I read an article in the news, how teachers all across America is teaching your children about slavery, history, and racism. My suggestion to you if you don’t want your children socially, mentally, emotionally, and psychologically scarred for the rest of their life, take the lead on educating your children about the importance and truth of their history. Don’t leave it up to teachers to address the matter because in this article what I’ve read will do exactly that leave our children scared like our ancestors.
Knowing who you are and where you came from is important but mostly knowing what you will and will not tolerate is more important. Don’t send your child to a school thinking they are getting the best education and all they really getting is first hand racism, enslavement, disappointment and a hard lesson in failure. See they have money for you to sue them but that doesn’t stop the problem nor take away the damage that has been done nor bring any one back from the grave.
Stop trying to keep up when you should already be ahead. The problem is never going to go away so make your children aware of their past, present and future so they can do the same for the next generations to come. Empower them with the truth, knowledge and tools to make them better than what we expect this world to do.
