First, give praise and worship to the all high. Second, welcome in and have a seat.
So how do I start? Let’s see, mental health is real and is a tricky subject to tackle. Not all mental health is the same and not all suffers alike nor alone. Is not just depression, anxiety, psychosis, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder, multiple personality disorder, etc. It can be a combination of many or a variety of factors leading up to one diagnosis.
Is not about stress, or a lack of sleep. Is not about worrying or being anxious. It’s not about introverts or personal problems. It’s about the person themselves, and how they feel about life and those in and around them. It’s about how they view themselves and acceptance of their surroundings.
It’s not about pleasing others but one’s self. It’s about being able to love, trust, and accept yourself even when there are others in your presence. it’s about wanting to scream but fear people will be watching, but I say do it anyway. It’s about wanting to sing off key and afraid someone will hear, but I say do it anyway. People are going to be people no matter if they see you or hear you. If you want to dance then dance! Fear can only control you if you let it. I know it sounds easy but it isn’t.
I know how not know is scarier than knowing. I know that when you go outside sometimes your nerves gets the best of you and your impulses get the best of you. I know that sometimes you feel like the skin you are in has turned on you and your mind isn’t capable of what you think it should be doing. what if all those signs are just warning signs that where you are isn’t where you need to be so that moment in time? What if when your heart is racing it is just your body or mind telling you that something good is about to happen but your nerves and anxiety have you missing out on great opportunities?
The mind like I said is tricky. We think we are always in control but we’re not and I get it that is extremely hard to interpret, understand, grasp, also exhausting. It is tiresome worrying about everything. It’s tiresome trying to fix everything. It’s exhausting trying to be everything to everyone except yourself. It’s exhausting talking to someone and thinking that they aren’t listening or they don’t understand. It’s exhausting hearing “I get that, but…” But what? If you get it why does a but follows? Because they done get it.
I know for a fact that trauma triggers raw emotions. I know that people say they understand but like I said everyone is different and their experiences with depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder etc are all different. I get it if the trauma is the same then the disorder or disease is the same but individuals experiencing the same trauma didn’t mean the mental state will be the same. Didn’t mean that the body reacted the same! Doesn’t mean the nightmares will need the same and it sure as hell doesn’t mean the recovery; if any, will be the same.
My trauma may look like yours didn’t mean we are going to react, love, live, breathe, nor heal the same. My mind, body, spirit and soul is mine and there are never two alike so why should my emotions, thoughts, actions or healing be treated the same. If I come to you for healing, conversing, understanding, uplifting, venting or mental health issues then treat me not textbook medicine or answers. Hear me and my needs, concerns, feelings, thoughts, and most of all my words.
Remember trauma has happened whether is small or larger, dramatic or insignificant, life altering or minor it’s my pain; it’s my suffering and it shouldn’t be taken lightly, because it how it’s affecting me. It’s like telling me how to dress according to how you view me instead of my personality. You can’t look at my shape and instantly say where tight fitting clothes just because I have a great body. My personality has to match that imagine you are portraying upon me if not I’m just going to like and feel ridiculous in my own skin. It would be like wearing someone else’s clothes out of their closet without wearing their personality from their soul.
So don’t just go to a regular doctor when you need a specialist like a cardiologist, neurologist, therapist, spine specialist, speech pathologist, otolaryngologist, radiologist, chemist, chiropractor, dermatologist, orthopedist, biologist or psychiatrist. If youyou aren’t comfortable with who’s treating you make the decision to find someone who makes you feel comfortable and will care for your wellbeing because not all does.
Your mental state is fragile and when you’re vulnerable no one should take advantage of you or your inability to know that you are being taken advantage of for their personal gain. This world is a sick place and it is more dangerous when you ask you need is a shoulder, a listen ear, a caring heart or a friend while exposing your vulnerability.
So when you need to shed a tear, do so. When you need to scream do so. When you need a listen ear, find one. When you need a helping hand, reach out for one. Who knows you might be helping the same person trying to help you. The Lord works in mysterious ways!
Everyday I’m gonna try to share a little piece of my journey with you all. I can’t make it a guarantee because each day is different than the last, but I try even when it hurt me to do so. So I say to you don’t give up and don’t give in! Take it second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour and reach day by day until it’s year by year. I BELIEVE IN YOU AND YOU SHOULD TOO BELIEVE IN YOU!
sending you all love, prayers, and strength to get through life little by little. XOXO # GoddessLove
